What to expect

Huff’s surviving house depressions and fortifications reveal a carefully planned Mandan settlement from about AD 1450. Interpretive signs guide visitors through the village landscape. Unlike the reconstructed earthlodges at Fort Abraham Lincoln, the interest here is in the visible archaeological traces and their relationship to the river.

  • Interpretive village walking tour
  • Rows of house depressions
  • Defensive ditch and village earthworks
